About NextLek

What NextLek is. NextLek Company ("NextLek", "we") operates a digital dispatch platform: a website and mobile apps that let healthcare facilities, patients, families and other users submit ride requests, and that transmit those requests to independent Transportation Companies that have registered with NextLek and whose licenses, permits, insurance and credentials NextLek has verified.

What NextLek is not. NextLek is not a transportation provider, motor carrier, taxicab company, ambulance service or employer of drivers. NextLek does not own or operate vehicles and does not transport passengers. NextLek is not a transportation broker and does not sell transportation; it is not a Medicaid transportation broker or a state-contracted NEMT manager. Every ride is provided by an independent Transportation Company under its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and that company alone is responsible for performing it.

Who the Transportation Companies are. "Transportation Company" means any independent, licensed company or driver that receives ride requests through NextLek. In the apps they are named by what they run: taxi, cab and limousine companies with two or more vehicles are operators and their salaried drivers are ops drivers; a driver who leases a licensed vehicle, or owns and drives a single vehicle, is ops; non-emergency medical transportation companies with two or more vehicles are providers, their salaried drivers provider drivers, and leasing or single-vehicle drivers provider ops. These names describe the business; each one is an independent Transportation Company, and NextLek is none of them.

What NextLek does. NextLek (a) receives ride requests and the information needed to serve them; (b) shows the requester the Transportation Company's price or price range before booking; (c) sends each request to eligible Transportation Companies, nearest available first for "Ride now"; (d) shares the rider's details with the Transportation Company only after it accepts; (e) shows ride status, driver and arrival time; and (f) processes card payments in the Transportation Company's name through NextLek's payment processor, so they settle directly in its own payment account, less the card processing cost, and collects facility invoices as its limited payment collection agent.

Verification. Transportation Companies, their drivers, EMTs and paramedics are screened and licensed or certified by their licensing authorities. Before a Transportation Company can receive requests, NextLek verifies the licenses, permits, insurance, vehicle registrations, inspections, certifications and background checks that the licensing authority for each service requires, and blocks dispatch when any of them lapses. Verification is a condition of using the platform, not a guarantee of how any ride is performed. Each Transportation Company is solely responsible for obtaining, keeping current and complying with its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and with all laws that apply to its service.

Not for emergencies. NextLek is not an emergency service. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Transportation Company Terms

These terms apply to Transportation Companies ("Provider") that register on NextLek, whether operators, ops, providers or provider ops as defined in "About NextLek" above, and to their drivers, attendants, EMTs and paramedics who use the NextLek Driver app. Effective November 1, 2026.

  1. NextLek's role. NextLek is a digital dispatch platform, as described in "About NextLek" above. NextLek gives the Provider access to ride requests. NextLek does not direct how the Provider drives, staffs, equips or runs its service, beyond the safety, compliance and data rules in these terms.
  2. Independent business. The Provider is an independent business, not NextLek's employee, agent, franchisee or partner. The Provider decides whether to accept any request, when to go online, and the prices on its price list. The Provider is free to use other dispatch services and serve its own customers. Drivers and crew are the Provider's personnel, not NextLek's.
  3. Licenses and compliance. The Provider holds, and keeps current, every license, permit, operating authority, insurance policy, vehicle registration and inspection, and personnel credential that its licensing authority and federal, state and local law require for each level of service it offers (including for-hire, NEMT, ambulance and EMS rules), and complies with all laws that apply to its service: transport, safety, ADA accessibility, anti-discrimination, wage and labor, tax, and privacy. The Provider uploads proof in the app and updates it before it expires.
  4. Verification. NextLek reviews the Provider's documents and runs or receives background checks, driving records, drug screens and exclusion checks as the licensing authority for each service requires. NextLek may block a Provider, vehicle or crew member from receiving requests when anything lapses, fails or cannot be verified. Verification does not shift responsibility for compliance to NextLek.
  5. Insurance. The Provider keeps the insurance its licensing authority requires for each service it offers — including commercial auto liability, general liability, workers' compensation and, for ambulance service, professional liability — at no less than the authority's minimums, naming NextLek Company as an additional insured where the policy allows.
  6. Performing rides. Once the Provider accepts a request, it performs the ride with a vehicle and crew qualified for that level, on time, and records each step in the Driver app (on the way, arrived, rider on board, completed, no-show). Location is collected while a ride or Ride now session is active, to show arrival times and verify the visit. The Provider must not charge riders anything beyond the price shown in the app.
  7. Ambulance and stretcher service. Ambulance service is offered only by Providers holding a verified ambulance service license, with the crew its licensing authority requires. If a crew finds a rider in an emergency, it follows its EMS protocols and calls 911; NextLek's role ends there.
  8. Fees and payment. Card rides are charged in the Provider's name, with the Provider as merchant of record, and settle directly in the Provider's own Stripe account; the card processing fee (about 2.9% + 30¢, at the processor's rates) is deducted from the same charge and borne by the Provider. For trips a facility pays by invoice, NextLek collects the fare as the Provider's limited payment collection agent and pays the Provider the full price from its price list, in the weekly payout after the facility pays that invoice. Platform subscription (launch pricing): the Provider pays NextLek $1 per active vehicle per day, prepaid either monthly ($30 per vehicle) or yearly ($365 per vehicle, rate locked for the 12-month term), for every vehicle and level of service. NextLek takes no commission and no per-trip fee during launch, and adds no fee to riders' or facilities' prices. The vehicle count follows the Provider's active vehicles, with additions mid-term prorated. If a renewal is not paid, the Provider has 7 days' grace, after which dispatch to its vehicles stops until it pays. A later price change applies only at renewal or to new sign-ups, never during a paid term, on at least 30 days' notice. Payouts go through Stripe Connect; the Provider gives the payment processor the information it requires.
  9. Leased vehicles. For each vehicle the Provider states who drives it and who is paid: its own drivers on salary (the Provider is paid), a driver who leases it (the leasing driver is paid), or the owner. A lease takes effect only when both the Provider and the leasing driver confirm it in the app. While it is active, the leasing driver, as recorded by both sides in the dashboard, is the seller of that vehicle's rides and the merchant of record: card rides are charged in the leasing driver's name and settle in the leasing driver's own payment account, invoiced trips are paid to the leasing driver, and the subscription for that vehicle is billed to the leasing driver. The company that holds the vehicle keeps responsibility for the vehicle's licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority. Each ride keeps the paid party it had when it was accepted; ending or changing a lease affects new rides only. One leasing driver per vehicle at a time.
  10. Patient information. The Provider will sign NextLek's Business Associate / data protection terms, use rider information only to perform the ride, keep it private, never contact riders for other purposes, and report any data incident to NextLek without unreasonable delay, and in any case within the time federal law allows (HIPAA breach notification, 45 CFR 164.410).
  11. Conduct and removal. NextLek may suspend or remove a Provider, vehicle or crew member for lapsed credentials, safety complaints, fraud, discrimination, refusal of service animals or mobility devices, misuse of data, or breach of these terms.
  12. Indemnity. The Provider will defend and indemnify NextLek against claims arising from the Provider's rides, vehicles, personnel or breach of law or of these terms, except to the extent caused by NextLek's own negligence.
  13. Records. The Provider keeps trip, personnel and vehicle records as the law requires and makes them available to regulators. NextLek keeps trip records (times, locations, verification flags) and may share them with the facility that booked the ride and with regulators when required.
  14. Term. Either party may end these terms with 30 days' notice; NextLek may suspend immediately for safety or compliance reasons. Rides already accepted are completed or handed back.
  15. Disputes, law, language, changes, contact. As in the Terms of Use, sections 13 to 16.
