About NextLek
What NextLek is. NextLek Company ("NextLek", "we") operates a digital dispatch platform: a website and mobile apps that let healthcare facilities, patients, families and other users submit ride requests, and that transmit those requests to independent Transportation Companies that have registered with NextLek and whose licenses, permits, insurance and credentials NextLek has verified.
What NextLek is not. NextLek is not a transportation provider, motor carrier, taxicab company, ambulance service or employer of drivers. NextLek does not own or operate vehicles and does not transport passengers. NextLek is not a transportation broker and does not sell transportation; it is not a Medicaid transportation broker or a state-contracted NEMT manager. Every ride is provided by an independent Transportation Company under its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and that company alone is responsible for performing it.
Who the Transportation Companies are. "Transportation Company" means any independent, licensed company or driver that receives ride requests through NextLek. In the apps they are named by what they run: taxi, cab and limousine companies with two or more vehicles are operators and their salaried drivers are ops drivers; a driver who leases a licensed vehicle, or owns and drives a single vehicle, is ops; non-emergency medical transportation companies with two or more vehicles are providers, their salaried drivers provider drivers, and leasing or single-vehicle drivers provider ops. These names describe the business; each one is an independent Transportation Company, and NextLek is none of them.
What NextLek does. NextLek (a) receives ride requests and the information needed to serve them; (b) shows the requester the Transportation Company's price or price range before booking; (c) sends each request to eligible Transportation Companies, nearest available first for "Ride now"; (d) shares the rider's details with the Transportation Company only after it accepts; (e) shows ride status, driver and arrival time; and (f) processes card payments in the Transportation Company's name through NextLek's payment processor, so they settle directly in its own payment account, less the card processing cost, and collects facility invoices as its limited payment collection agent.
Verification. Transportation Companies, their drivers, EMTs and paramedics are screened and licensed or certified by their licensing authorities. Before a Transportation Company can receive requests, NextLek verifies the licenses, permits, insurance, vehicle registrations, inspections, certifications and background checks that the licensing authority for each service requires, and blocks dispatch when any of them lapses. Verification is a condition of using the platform, not a guarantee of how any ride is performed. Each Transportation Company is solely responsible for obtaining, keeping current and complying with its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and with all laws that apply to its service.
Not for emergencies. NextLek is not an emergency service. For a medical emergency, call 911.
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use apply to everyone who uses the NextLek website or apps: riders, patients, family members, caregivers and anyone who books or follows a ride. Effective November 1, 2026.
- Agreement. By creating an account, booking or following a ride, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you book for someone else, you confirm you have their permission (or are their legal guardian or authorized representative) and that they will follow these Terms.
- NextLek's role. NextLek is a digital dispatch platform, as described in "About NextLek" above. Your ride is provided by the Transportation Company shown in the app. Your transportation agreement is with that company; NextLek is not a party to it.
- Not for emergencies. Never use NextLek in an emergency. If someone has chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding, is unresponsive, or is a danger to themselves or others, call 911.
- Eligibility and accounts. You must be 18 or older to open an account. Riders under 18 must be booked by a parent or guardian and travel with an adult unless the Transportation Company agrees otherwise. Keep your phone and sign-in codes private; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- Ride types. "Ride" means an everyday ride with a licensed taxi, cab or limousine company. "Ride to care (NEMT)" means non-emergency medical transportation to or from care. You must answer the booking questions (mobility, help needed, oxygen, weight range) truthfully; the vehicle and crew are chosen from your answers, and wrong answers may mean the Transportation Company cannot carry the rider safely.
- Prices. Before you book, the app shows the Transportation Company's price or price range. During launch NextLek adds no fee to riders' prices; if a rider fee is introduced later, it will be shown before booking and apply only to new bookings. The final price is set when a Transportation Company accepts and may include waiting time and other charges listed on its price list. Ride now may include a same-day premium set by the Transportation Company.
- Payment. You authorize the Transportation Company, through NextLek's payment processor, to place a hold on your card when it accepts the ride (or 24 hours before a scheduled pickup) and to charge the final amount when the ride is done. The charge is made in the Transportation Company's name and paid to it. Card details are handled by our payment processor; NextLek does not store full card numbers.
- Cancellations and no-shows. You may cancel in the app. Cancelling inside the Transportation Company's cancellation window, or not being at the pickup when the driver has waited the stated time, may be charged its late-cancellation or no-show fee, shown before you book. Cancelling the ride to an appointment also cancels its ride back.
- Conduct. Treat drivers and crews with respect. Do not book rides you do not intend to take, give false information, carry anything illegal or dangerous, or misuse the service. We may suspend accounts that do.
- Transportation Companies are independent. NextLek verifies Transportation Companies before they can receive requests, but does not control how they drive, care for riders or run their business. Complaints about a ride can be sent to info@nextlek.com; we will pass them to the Transportation Company and may remove those whose licenses or credentials no longer meet their licensing authority's requirements, or who breach the Transportation Company Terms.
- Disclaimer. The platform is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, NextLek does not guarantee that a Transportation Company will be available, that a ride will be on time, or that the app will always work.
- Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, NextLek is not liable for the acts or omissions of Transportation Companies, drivers or crews, or for indirect or consequential losses; NextLek's total liability to you is limited to $100 or the fees you paid NextLek in the 12 months before the claim, if more. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
- Disputes. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (its Commercial Arbitration Rules for disputes between businesses) and seated in Fairfax County, Virginia, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. Disputes are brought individually, not as a class or representative action.
- Language. These Terms are published in English and will also be offered in Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Korean and Chinese. If the versions differ, the English version controls.
- Changes. We will notify you in the app before material changes take effect. Continuing to use NextLek after that means you accept them.
