About NextLek

What NextLek is. NextLek Company ("NextLek", "we") operates a digital dispatch platform: a website and mobile apps that let healthcare facilities, patients, families and other users submit ride requests, and that transmit those requests to independent Transportation Companies that have registered with NextLek and whose licenses, permits, insurance and credentials NextLek has verified.

What NextLek is not. NextLek is not a transportation provider, motor carrier, taxicab company, ambulance service or employer of drivers. NextLek does not own or operate vehicles and does not transport passengers. NextLek is not a transportation broker and does not sell transportation; it is not a Medicaid transportation broker or a state-contracted NEMT manager. Every ride is provided by an independent Transportation Company under its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and that company alone is responsible for performing it.

Who the Transportation Companies are. "Transportation Company" means any independent, licensed company or driver that receives ride requests through NextLek. In the apps they are named by what they run: taxi, cab and limousine companies with two or more vehicles are operators and their salaried drivers are ops drivers; a driver who leases a licensed vehicle, or owns and drives a single vehicle, is ops; non-emergency medical transportation companies with two or more vehicles are providers, their salaried drivers provider drivers, and leasing or single-vehicle drivers provider ops. These names describe the business; each one is an independent Transportation Company, and NextLek is none of them.

What NextLek does. NextLek (a) receives ride requests and the information needed to serve them; (b) shows the requester the Transportation Company's price or price range before booking; (c) sends each request to eligible Transportation Companies, nearest available first for "Ride now"; (d) shares the rider's details with the Transportation Company only after it accepts; (e) shows ride status, driver and arrival time; and (f) processes card payments in the Transportation Company's name through NextLek's payment processor, so they settle directly in its own payment account, less the card processing cost, and collects facility invoices as its limited payment collection agent.

Verification. Transportation Companies, their drivers, EMTs and paramedics are screened and licensed or certified by their licensing authorities. Before a Transportation Company can receive requests, NextLek verifies the licenses, permits, insurance, vehicle registrations, inspections, certifications and background checks that the licensing authority for each service requires, and blocks dispatch when any of them lapses. Verification is a condition of using the platform, not a guarantee of how any ride is performed. Each Transportation Company is solely responsible for obtaining, keeping current and complying with its own licenses, permits, insurance and operating authority, and with all laws that apply to its service.

Not for emergencies. NextLek is not an emergency service. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Facility Terms

These terms apply to hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities and other organizations ("Facility") that book rides on NextLek for their patients. Effective November 1, 2026.

  1. NextLek's role. NextLek is a digital dispatch platform, as described in "About NextLek" above. Each ride is provided by the independent Transportation Company shown on the trip, which is responsible for performing it.
  2. Activation. NextLek activates a Facility account only after the Facility signs NextLek's Business Associate Agreement. Until then, the account cannot store patient information.
  3. Clinical responsibility. The Facility is responsible for deciding that non-emergency transportation is appropriate, and for the triage answers it gives (ability to sit upright, care needed en route, mobility device, weight, oxygen, escort). The level of service and vehicle are chosen from those answers. The Facility must not request an ambulance or any ride for a patient in an emergency; it must call 911.
  4. Ambulance Ride now. Before requesting a same-day ambulance, an authorized clinician completes NextLek's emergency screen and confirms the transport is non-emergency. Any emergency sign stops the request.
  5. Users. The Facility controls who on its staff has access, keeps sign-in and authenticator devices secure, and removes access when a person leaves.
  6. Prices and invoices. The price shown when booking comes from the Transportation Company's price list; during launch NextLek adds no fee. NextLek invoices the Facility monthly on the 1st for the previous month's completed rides, late cancellations and no-shows; invoices are due in 30 days (net 30), by bank transfer (ACH) or card, with no late fees during launch. NextLek may pause new bookings when an invoice is more than 15 days overdue or the account reaches its credit limit. A Facility may instead pay by card, held and charged as in the Terms of Use. NextLek collects as the Transportation Company's limited payment collection agent.
  7. Cancellations. The Transportation Company's cancellation window and fees, shown when booking, apply.
  8. Patient information. The Facility confirms it may share the patient information it enters for the purpose of transportation, and that it has given any notices or obtained any consents the law requires. NextLek uses and shares it only as the Business Associate Agreement and the Privacy Policy allow: with the Transportation Company that accepts the ride, and with people the Facility lists for ride updates.
  9. Records and reports. NextLek keeps trip records, including times, locations and visit-verification flags, and makes them available to the Facility.
  10. Liability. To the extent the law allows, NextLek is not liable for the acts or omissions of Transportation Companies; NextLek's total liability to the Facility is limited to the fees the Facility paid NextLek in the 12 months before the claim. Each party indemnifies the other for claims caused by its own breach of the Business Associate Agreement.
  11. Term. Either party may end these terms with 30 days' notice. Amounts owed for rides already completed remain payable.
  12. Disputes, law, language, changes, contact. As in the Terms of Use, sections 13 to 16.
